Raising Funds

Improving lives of young wheelies through fundraising is easy.

You may have your own event in mind, or you may want to join other John Maclean Foundation supporters already taking part in a community fundraising event in your area.

Together we can work towards a world that every child has the ability to enjoy life, move around freely and independently.

Whether that means being able to get inside their own home, communicate with their family and friends or play sport. We can enable them to harness their abilities to achieve extraordinary things on their own terms.

How do I join an existing event?

JMF often run our own events, such as 'Retroman' and 'Kilometres for Kids'. We are also nominated as a preferred charity in many large annual events, such as the City2Surf. These are all listed on the Event Calendar.

We are proud to be a 'charity of choice' for:

  • Ironman Australia and Ironman Busselton as well has the 70.3 events, through the Ironman Charity Challenge
  • Bay2Bay - the annual Arthurs Seat ride in Victoria.
  • City2Surf - the annual 12km Sydney fun run, from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach.

How do I collect the money I raise?

We have partnered with Everyday Hero, so you can create your own fundraising web page, to raise funds for JMF in conjunction with any personal occasion or adventure.

Click here, or on the Fundraise Now button, and in just three simple steps you can create your own fundraising page and set a target to raise valuable funds needed to assist little Australian wheelies.

Your web page will have the capability to securely process online credit card transactions (Visa, Mastercard and Amex) as well as cash or cheque donations.

Cash or cheque donors will need to select to pay via BPay or PostBillPay. These donations will be recorded as a 'pledge' until the funds have been paid. Once your supporter has made payment, the funds take one working day to process, for the 'pledge' to be converted into a 'donation' and for your 'Donation Meter' to be updated. Each donation is recorded on your page, along with any messages from your supporters.

Your supporters will automatically be emailed a Tax Invoice.

Create your own event

Organising your own fundraising activity is a great way to get active and social in support of young Australian wheelies.

What kind of event can I run?

There are lots of different ways to raise funds in your local community to support the vital work of John Maclean Foundation. Choose a bike ride, triathlon, swim, run, dinner party, 21st or 65th birthday party … the choices are endless.

Visit our Event Calendar to get inspired, start your personal adventure and start changing the lives of young wheelies.

How do I promote my fundraising?

This is the easy part. Once you have created your personal online fundraising page you will have access to a list of email templates. These templates all contain a link to your unique webpage. You can use these email templates to approach your supporters for a donation.

From within your Everyday Hero account you can also find 'widgets' that enable you to promote your event through social media, such as Facebook and Twitter. A 'widget' is also created for you to add to your website or blog.

Another recommendation is to add a link to your fundraising site to your email signature. Update it weekly with how much you have raised so far.

What if I want to raise funds for a specific young wheelie?

We are more than happy to facilitate and assist you in raising funds for a particular child. However we can only direct 75% of the funds you raise to your delegated wheelie. We require the other 25% to cover our administration costs and to allocate funds to other young wheelies who aren’t as fortunate to have someone raising funds on their behalf.
